Ride Among the Towering Sand Dunes in Saugatuck

(Photo by Duncan Wolfe) One of Saugatuck’s premier attractions is the Saugatuck Dunes State Park, a day-use public park encompassing two-and-a-half miles of secluded Lake Michigan shoreline and 1,000 acres of steep slopes, rolling hills and fresh water coastal dunes more than 200 feet tall. A long sandy beach and 300-acre natural area attract enthusiasts, birdwatchers and hikers year-round.
Through October 18th, you can enjoy 40-minute dune rides among the scenic hills of Saugatuck’s wooded sand dunes. Hear the tale of the village of Singapore and how it became buried beneath one of the giant sand dunes more than 100 years ago. A few of the structures from this famous lumbering and shipbuilding boom town can still be seen, but you need to know where to look. Tickets must be ordered online and are available for Saturdays and Sundays; visit Saugatuck Dune Rides to book your dune ride today.
Featuring fourteen miles of hiking trails and a quiet and serene beachfront, the Park is a perfect setting for a relaxing stroll to watch the stunning Saugatuck sunset or share a romantic picnic. The two-and-a-half mile Beach Trail is a great place for birding and to experience Michigan’s rare and diverse flora and fauna.
To see a world in a grain of sand and heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand and eternity in an hour. ― William Blake
